Renowned Nollywood actor Francis Duru has taken to social media to mourn his late son, Ifeanyi, who would have turned 16 today, December 4. In a deeply emotional post, Duru reflected on the void his son’s passing has left in their lives since his untimely demise in August this year.
The actor shared heartfelt words, writing:
“Nna… today, you were going to be 16. But the cold hands of death snatched you from us… you looked forward to this day… we all did. But life happened, and you retired so early. Son, it has not been easy because you left a very big hole in our hearts.”
Duru recounted fond memories of his son, describing him as a loving and wonderful child whose absence has been deeply felt by the family. He expressed how daily life has changed, saying, “Since you left… the school bus doesn’t come again. Can’t remember when I last ate bread… such a big vacuum.”
The grieving father also spoke of the pain shared by his family, including his wife, siblings, and even Ifeanyi’s friends, who still struggle to understand his absence. “Mummy weeps each day while I do mine in the dark. Frances and Soso, all of us… Grandma has your picture always,” he wrote.
Despite the sorrow, Francis Duru expressed gratitude for the time he had with Ifeanyi and prayed for his son’s eternal rest. “Happy posthumous birthday, my champ. Continuously rest in the bosom of the Lord… Adieu, son. We love you loads.”
Ifeanyi, the second son of Francis Duru, passed away earlier this year, leaving an irreplaceable void in his family’s hearts. May his soul continue to rest in peace. Amen.
