Nollywood actress Queeneth Hilbert has filed a lawsuit against fellow actress Destiny Etiko and the Inspector General of Police at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
The suit, filed under fundamental human rights enforcement, alleges that Hilbert has been subjected to harassment, intimidation, and threats orchestrated by Etiko with the involvement of police officers.
According to the court documents, Hilbert claims that after making statements about Destiny Etiko on social media, she received a warning letter from Etiko’s lawyer on March 8, 2025, instructing her to cease all comments regarding the actress. Later that day, she reportedly received a phone call from a man identifying himself as “Superintendent Paul,” stating that she had been summoned to Abuja for a case of cyberbullying allegedly reported by Etiko.
Hilbert further alleges that on the night of March 8, heavily armed police officers stormed her home in Asaba, Delta State, with the intention of arresting her. However, she was not home at the time. Out of fear for her safety, she claims she fled to Lagos after being warned that if she failed to report to Abuja, her home would be ransacked.
The actress is now seeking legal protection, arguing that her rights to personal liberty and freedom of expression have been violated. She has asked the court to intervene and prevent any further attempts to arrest or detain her on what she describes as “a purely civil matter turned into a criminal case.”
The case is set to be heard at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, with Hilbert’s legal team arguing that she has been unjustly targeted in an attempt to silence her.
