Award-winning actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has opened up about her early struggles in the film industry, recalling how some of her colleagues, including Tayo Odueke (Sindodo) and Iyabo Ojo, played pivotal roles in her journey to success.
In a heartfelt reflection, Funke reminisced on how Sindodo supported her during tough times by lending her clothes for auditions and offering words of encouragement when she faced rejection.
“I remember when I used to borrow Sindodo’s clothes to audition. She would willingly give me her clothes to look good. There were even times at auditions when I didn’t get roles; I would cry so much, and Sindodo would pet and console me, always telling me not to cry,” she shared.
She also praised Iyabo Ojo for her kindness, recalling how she often took her and others out for meals and has always been someone who stands up for people.
“Iyabo Ojo was also very nice; she used to take us out to buy food back then. She has always been someone who loves to fight for people,” Funke added.
The revelation has touched many fans, showcasing the power of kindness and support in the entertainment industry. Today, Funke Akindele is one of the biggest names in Nollywood, but she has not forgotten those who stood by her when she was just starting.
